U10 Boys & Girls Overview

Cost: $450

Formats

The U10 teams will register for either Gold or Silver Divisions. Each division is limited to sixteen teams, meaning a total of thirty two boys and thirty two girls teams will be accepted in the tournament.

Assuming a division fills at sixteen teams, each division will then be seeded into four 4-team brackets. Geography, club affiliation and previous history are used to seed the teams. A primary objective of the tournament is to schedule teams to play teams from outside their own geographical area, so geography is a key factor in seeding, particularly at this age group.

Schedules

The U10 teams will play a two game preliminary schedule within their bracket on Friday and/or Saturday morning. The U10 teams will not have games on Thursday. After the preliminary round schedule is completed, teams will advance to the playoffs. The playoff formats are determined by the number of teams that entered each specific division. A complete explanation of potential scenarios is available under the “details” link on this website. Click on “Tournament Formats” to get a complete explanation.

The tournament guarantees four games. Every team should expect to play at least one game on Sunday. Travel teams will be scheduled to play as early as possible on Sunday. Depending on the number of teams in the division, some teams will have a friendly game to play after losing in the playoffs. Teams are expected to play all of their scheduled games.

Game Locations

All U10 games will be played at Tigard High School, Cook Park, and the Waluga/Bryant school complex in Lake Oswego. All championship and consolation finals will be played at Tigard High School and awards will be presented at Awards Center at Tigard High School.

Accommodations

New in 2008, the club has reserved 2,000 motel rooms for visiting teams to use. In order to limit the amount of travel on the part of visiting teams, we have assigned the various tournament hotels to age groups, based on game locations. We have done our best to provide a variety of rate packages for each age group.

For the U10 teams, hotels are located along I-5, in Tigard, Tualatin and Wilsonville. Some properties are available to multiple age groups. To see complete information about the tournament hotels assigned to this age group, please click on the “Hotel” link at the bottom this page. You will also get complete instructions on booking rooms through the club.

Awards

All participants will receive a really cool custom Chinook Cup pin. Individual medals and Champion T-shirts will be awarded to the champions of each championship bracket. Individual medals will be awarded to the second place teams in each championship bracket. Individual medals will be awarded to the consolation champions.

Standings and Schedules on the Website

We will continue to use the online scheduling software to write schedules and display the standings. Standings typically are updated within 45 minutes of the end of each set of games. Updated standings can be accessed via the internet from anywhere in the world throughout the tournament. In addition, individual scores can be sent as a text message to your cell phone. We expect to have a wireless hub set up at Tigard High School, so bring your laptop and you should be able to access tournament updates onsite.

Chinook Cup T-shirts

The Official Chinook Cup Tournament T-shirts will be available at Tigard High School and other tournament locations. Teams can place pre-orders when ordering ten or more shirts. All pre-orders will be discounted and you will pickup the t-shirts when you check your team in. Please click on the t-shirt tab to place your pre-order and to see what is available. Many tournament locations will have concessions and some locations will also have vendors that will be selling soccer related items.

Directions to Fields

Maps and directions to the fields will be available as part of the online schedules. You can preview them by going to the 2007 schedules/results link, and then clicking on the map links on the schedules home page. One cool feature for travel teams, you can enter your hotel and the field where you are scheduled to play and the software will produce driving directions between the two.
